2026 Shoe Donation Tax Deduction Guide

Updated for 2026: what donated heels and boots are worth at tax time, and where they go after you give them.

Why give with OnlyFuego

Your clothing does real good, three ways.

๐Ÿ’›

Funds local causes

Rented for events through FashionablyGood, with the profits going to community causes.

๐Ÿค

Dresses job seekers

Lent free to people heading into interviews, so they walk in confident.

๐ŸŒŸ

Celebrates honorees

Lent to community award honorees for the night they're recognized.

We're a 501(c)(3), so your gift is tax-deductible and we'll send a receipt, but the real reason to give is the good it does.

Can You Deduct Donated Shoes on Your Taxes?

Yes. Designer shoes donated to a 501(c)(3) nonprofit are tax-deductible at fair market value. A pair of Louboutins worn once to a wedding can be worth a few hundred dollars on your return.

OnlyFuego accepts luxury and designer footwear. Donated pairs get rented for events (net profits fund the charities on our Honor Roll) or lent free to job seekers and community honorees.

What Are Your Shoes Worth?

Fair market value depends on brand, condition, and style. Typical ranges:

Quality Brands
$30-$100
Cole Haan, Sam Edelman, Steve Madden
Designer
$100-$400
Stuart Weitzman, Tory Burch, Aquazzura
Luxury
$400-$1,000+
Louboutin, Manolo, Jimmy Choo, Gucci

Worth knowing: shoes worn only 1-2 times keep 50-70% of their value. Never-worn pairs with tags can approach retail.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much can I deduct for donating shoes?

You deduct fair market value: the price a buyer would pay for it today, not the original retail price. The value ranges on this page show typical amounts by brand and condition.

Do I need a receipt or appraisal to claim the deduction?

For donations under $500, our itemized receipt is enough. Over $500, you also file IRS Form 8283 with your return. Items valued over $5,000 require a qualified appraisal.

Can I mail my shoes from any state?

Yes. We accept mail-in donations from anywhere in the US. Once your package arrives, we send an itemized 501(c)(3) tax receipt within 5-7 business days.

What condition do the shoes need to be in?

Clean and in good, wearable condition. Light sole wear is fine, but we cannot accept shoes with heavy scuffing, broken heels, or missing hardware.
